CHIEF Import declarations of interest to GVMS - January 2022
To achieve full customs control on goods, at locations with limited space or infrastructure, the Government introduced the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) to support the Pre-Lodgement model for both imports and exports and to facilitate Transit movements.
From 1 January 2022 traders, hauliers and carriers are required to have a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) to move goods from the EU to GB for UK/EU imports and exports.
In order for import and export RoRo declarations to be recognised by GVMS, a new header level AI statement of RRS01 has to be incuded in the declaration.
You can see a full list of ports that are using GVMS [here]
The following guidance has been issued by HMRC to describe the requirements.
