What’s next for ASM users?
The ASM development team is busy working on updates to Sequoia. Users can expect two key updates before the end of the year, and several more in Q1 2026.
Consolidated Sales Invoicing will allow the production of sales invoices for multiple jobs.
OLE Data Capture will allow export declaration data to be stored against an export off-line entry (OLE), so that this data can be used when creating a transit (NCTS) or ICS2 ENS declaration.
This is useful when a forwarder is physically moving the goods, but did not complete the export declaration for them. Both transit and ICS2 now require detailed item-level data including commodity code and description of goods. Exports by road to mainland Europe now require both a transit and an ICS2 declaration, so capturing this data once will save duplication of effort.
Both of the above are expected to be delivered before Christmas.
Next year, the OLE Data Capture functionality will be extended to include AI-powered Intelligent document processing (IDP). If a forwarder can obtain a copy of the export declaration document, it can be scanned in Sequoia and the data used to populate the database automatically.
There will also be changes to transit in Sequoia to align with NCTS Phase 6, due to be implemented by HMRC in June 2026. This was previously planned by HMRC for 2027 but has been brought forward very recently.
Q1 will also see an extension of Sequoia’s Notifications functionality, so we can share external notifications regarding system issues, planned downtime and similar information directly to Sequoia users.
We are also working to enable users to specify a ‘default badge’ to use when sending non-inventory linked declarations. This includes all exports, all supplementary declarations and road imports arriving through GVMS locations. All of this data can be transmitted directly to CDS, bypassing CSP systems, which charge for the transmission.
