CDS Release 5.1.0.2 - Updated Important Guidance
There will be a CDS system outage to deploy a hotfix on the evening of 29th April 2026 between 21:30 and 23:00.
Once the system has been restored following this outage, CDS Release 5.1.0.2 will be deployed.
The attached document contains important details of the release.
Due to the changes introduced in this release, there may be an impact on prelodged Declarations.
Any prelodged Declarations that will arrive on or after the release date that will be affected by the changes in this document will need to be amended to be compliant with these changes or the declarations may be rejected.
In addition, on the 11th May 2026, the changes relating to excise duty that were delivered as part of CDS Release 5.1.0 (on the 29th March 2026) will be added to the Online Tariff and should be used from this date. These changes were items 15 and 16 of the Release 5.1.0 guidance document, and are reproduced below.
Additional Code ‘X399’ and Excise Tax Type ‘399’.
For import movements, Additional Code ‘X399’ and Excise Tax Type ‘399’ have been added to the CDS Codelist.
These Codes are to be used with cooking Alcohols with an alcohol strength equal to or less than 5%.
Where the Additional Code ‘X399’ and Excise Tax Type ‘399’ have been declared, no Excise Duty will be charged on that Goods item.

Excise Additional Codes in the X3 series (excluding X399)
For import movements, applicable Excise Additional Codes: ‘X321’, ‘X322’, X323’, ‘X324’, ‘X331’, ‘X333’, ‘X334’, ‘X335’, ‘X341’, ‘X343’, ‘X344’. ‘X345’, ‘X366’, ‘X367’, ‘X368’, and ‘X369’
When declaring one of the above Excise Additional Codes in DE 6/16 or DE 6/17, Measurement Unit Code ‘ASV’ must also be declared in DE 4/4.
If one of the listed Excise Additional Codes is declared in DE 6/16 or DE 6/17, but DE 4/4 is not completed with Measurement unit code ‘ASV’, the declaration will be rejected.
