Tax Update 2026: simplification, modernisation and fairness

Today, the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury presented a Written Ministerial Statement on Tax Update 2026. We are pleased to tell you that this included 11 customs measures. A high-level summary of the key measures for customs is attached.

You can find more information on the measures in the attached document (see below) and on GOV.UK. 

HMRC will also be conducting further engagement on relevant measures, including the Call for Evidence on Customs Modernisation and the consultation on mandating registration for customs intermediaries.
