Transit policy engagement opportunity
As part of the recent Tax update spring 2025: simplification, administration and reform summary, HMRC will be undertaking engagement with stakeholders to help define a number of policy proposals to improve the transit procedure.
The engagement is planned to take place until mid-August. It will be split into two sessions and stakeholders can take part in both:
Session 1 - whether proposals to streamline the existing simplified process will reduce cost for businesses and encourage more transit movements to start at business premises by:
- removing the ‘time out period’
- introducing more flexible controls
- improving the authorisation process
- facilitating compliant simplified movement departing standard export locations
Session 2 - the benefits of introducing transit security accompanying documents to determine whether the UK should opt in to offering them from a future date.
Each session will be held via Microsoft Teams and will last around 1 hour. We will share the questions with stakeholders prior to the meeting. Please note these sessions are confidential and AI is not allowed to be used.
