Transit Engagement - Sevington Users
HMRC will be undertaking a programme of engagement with transit users over the next 2 months to explore how transit services are used in the short straits and how it could be used in the future.
This engagement will focus on businesses that currently start or end transit movements at Sevington, which will include speaking to both authorised consignors/consignees (ACCs) and non-authorised traders.
The purpose is to better understand how transit is currently being used in practice and to gather evidence on:
- Why traders use Sevington to start and end transit movements
- The use of authorised consignor/consignee simplifications, including any barriers to take-up
- Scenarios where movements cannot be completed using simplified procedures
- How transit is operated by businesses, including the use of authorised premises, client sites, and commercial facilities
- Business considerations such as operating models and practical constraints
- Lead-in times required for businesses to adapt to changes in operating models
This engagement is part of ongoing work to build understanding of use of transit services in the short straits to inform future planning.
If anyone, who uses Sevington to start or end transit movements, would be interested in engaging with transit policy please contact: transitpolicymailbox@hmrc.gov.uk
We would welcome the opportunity to gather feedback.
